Born out of collaboration
PuijkPlant is voortgekomen uit drie generaties vakmanschap. Veel telers zagen de hoge kwaliteit van de jonge planten die de familie Puijk opkweekte, en wilden dit plantmateriaal ook op hun eigen kwekerij.
PuijkPlant grew out of three generations of craftsmanship. Many growers saw the high quality of the young plants raised by the Puijk family and wanted that same planting material for their own nursery.

Plantmateriaal voor substraatteelt onder bedekking, uit hetzelfde programma waarmee we zelf telen. Wat op ons eigen perceel staat, weten we ook in de praktijk te beoordelen.
Material for covered substrate growing, from the same programme we grow with ourselves. What stands on our own site is something we can judge in practice.

Growing blackberries has been in our blood since the 1970s. That experience goes into the plants we supply.

Waarom de blauwe bes een zure bodem wil
Why blueberries want acidic soil
De blauwe bes hoort bij de heidefamilie, de Ericaceae. Net als de meeste leden van die familie heeft hij een zure bodem nodig om goed te groeien. Dat is precies de reden waarom substraatteelt hier zo goed werkt.
The blueberry belongs to the heather family, the Ericaceae. Like most of that family it needs acidic soil to grow well. That is exactly why substrate growing works so well here.
Binnen het geslacht Vaccinium worden drie types commercieel geteeld: lowbush (V. angustifolium), rabbiteye (V. ashei) en highbush (V. corymbosum). In Europa is dat de highbush. Daarnaast kent het geslacht wilde soorten, zoals de blauwe bosbes (V. myrtillus) en de veenbes (V. oxycoccos).
Within the genus Vaccinium, three types are grown commercially: lowbush (V. angustifolium), rabbiteye (V. ashei) and highbush (V. corymbosum). In Europe it is the highbush. The genus also has wild species, such as bilberry (V. myrtillus) and cranberry (V. oxycoccos).
